Squash Goals: How to Get The Most of Your Winter Squash
Storage: Store your winter squash in a cool, dry place (50–60°F) for up to several months after purchasing. When you’re looking for the right one, choose the squash with no soft spots or blemishes to ensure the best storage life.
Cooking Hacks: Pierce the squash with a fork and microwave for a couple of minutes to make cutting easier. Drizzle with olive oil and your favorite herbs before roasting for maximum flavor. Don’t forget to save the seeds to roast for a delicious (and nutritious) snack!
Substitutions: Most winter squash varieties can be substituted for one another in recipes, though flavors and textures may vary slightly. Just be sure to adjust your cooking times accordingly based on any substitutions you make.
