The family-owned farm behind everyone’s favorite decorative painted pumpkins

Growing pumpkins with personality
since 1999

It all began in 1999 with two women who wanted to give pumpkins a personality.

Today, Bay Baby Produce spans 800 acres in Mount Vernon, Washington’s Skagit Valley, ships nationwide to major retailers, and continues to set the standard for innovation in ornamental produce. Every painted pumpkin, expertly harvested squash, and cross-country shipment reflects our commitment to quality, creativity, and sustainable farming in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.

A Family Farm, Through and Through

More than 25 years after our founding, Bay Baby Produce is led by Michele Youngquist and her son Nate, who joined as partner in 2022 to continue the family business. With Nate’s farming expertise and Michele’s creative vision, we’ve grown into a 800-acre farming operation. But we’ve never lost sight of what makes us special: quality, craftsmanship, and a commitment to doing right by the land and our community.

  • Michele Youngquist

    PRESIDENT / FOUNDER

Michele has been a leader in the produce industry since 1999, creating the nationally recognized Pumpkin Patch Pals® line. Her products are top-performers for major U.S. retailers, boasting twice the retail velocity of any other pumpkin on the market. From her company’s 54,000-square-foot production hub in Washington’s Skagit Valley, Michele leads Bay Baby Produce with a focus on sustainability.

A proud grandmother of seven, Michele’s mission is to spread "pumpkin joy" through constant innovation.

  • Nate Youngquist

    VICE PRESIDENT / PARTNER
Nate is a fifth-generation farmer with over 20 years of experience. He manages approximately 800 acres at Bay Baby Produce, and has helped grow the family-owned company into a national leader in organic winter squash and its signature Pumpkin Patch Pals® line.

His approach to sustainable organic farming practices balances high-volume production with long-term stewardship, earning him recognition as a National Outstanding Young Farmer in 2016. For Nate, farming isn't just a job; it’s a heritage rooted in a family legacy dating back to the late 1800s.

Nate is passionate about passing down his love of agriculture and the outdoors to the next generation — whether in the field, on the water, or exploring the Pacific Northwest with his wife Brooke, and two children.
