Skagit, Whatcom and Island County Schools

Each season we donate pumpkins and painted pumpkins to various classrooms throughout Skagit, Whatcom and Island County schools. This is a fun and creative time for all the children and we enjoy hearing the pumpkin stories they share back with us.

Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation

Seattle Children’s provides healthcare for the special needs of children regardless of race, sex, creed, ethnicity or disability. Financial assistance for medically necessary services is based on family income and hospital resources and is provided to children under age 21 whose primary residence is in Washington, Alaska, Montana or Idaho.

Each season we donate painted pumpkins to the hospital in hopes of bringing them some pumpkin joy during a stressful time of healing.

American Breast Cancer Foundation

American Breast Cancer Foundation has recognized the need for uninsured and underserved women and men of their community to have access to life saving breast cancer screening services. Working to provide a fighting chance for every life threatened by breast cancer, the American Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1997.

The American Breast Cancer Foundation promotes health education and provides life-saving breast cancer screening assistance through outreach events. Such events help support impoverished communities in rural areas of the United States. Volunteer doctors, nurses, pilots and support workers participate at their own expense. Medical supplies, medicines, facilities and vehicles are donated.

ABCF comes to the aid of patients in crisis to assist with financial support for the continuation of necessary chemotherapy or medications when no other resources are immediately available. ABCF provides breast cancer patients with referrals for crucial information gathering, additional assistance programs, and support services available to them at a critical time when help is needed most.

Kiva Micro Loans

Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending.

Kiva was born of the following beliefs:

  • People are by nature generous, and will help others if given the opportunity to do so in a transparent, accountable way.
  • The poor are highly motivated and can be very successful when given an opportunity.
  • By connecting people we can create relationships beyond financial transactions, and build a global community expressing support and encouragement of one another.

Kiva promotes:

  • Dignity: Kiva encourages partnership relationships as opposed to benefactor relationships. Partnership relationships are characterized by mutual dignity and respect.
  • Accountability: Loans encourage more accountability than donations where repayment is not expected.
  • Transparency: The Kiva website is an open platform where communication can flow freely around the world.
